It is with great sadness and also tremendous gratitude for her life that we announce the passing of a dear wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Phyllis Lelliott Blackmore in St. John’s on Wednesday, October 28, 2020, aged 95 years. Predeceased by her loving husband Wilfred Karl; son David Robinson Rob; parents Walter and Margaret Woolgar; brothers Albert (Evelyn), William (Eva) and Frederick (Edna); sisters-in-law, Frances (Gerald), Adeline, Florence (John), and Joan (Bernard), and brother-in-law Bill. Leaving to mourn, with deep cherished memories, her loving and caring children, Carol (Jeff), Bill (Martha), Gillian (Dennis); grandchildren John (Danielle) and Anna (Colin), Timothy (Tammy) and Andrew (Nicole); great-grandchildren Ashley (Trysten), Oliver, Otis and Moon; sister-in-law June, cousins, nieces, nephews, and a very large circle of friends. Special thanks are extended to Keisha and all the staff of the Kenny’s Pond Retirement Residence for the exemplary care provided to Phyllis over the past two years. Thank you also to the staff of 4SB HSC who provided her care with great compassion in her final days.
Dedicated to her loving family, Phyllis lived a life of grace and quiet dignity, always putting the needs of others before her own. Well known for her warm personality and welcoming nature, she embraced and showed open hospitality to all who visited the home she shared with Wilfred and her family on Freshwater Road in St. John’s. Phyllis attended Bishop Spencer College and was a long-time volunteer with the United Church Women’s Group.
Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, Freshwater Road, St. John’s on Friday, October 30 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. Funeral service to take place at George Street United Church, 130 George Street West, Saturday, October 31 at 2:00 pm. The service will be live streamed for those unable to attend. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in her memory may be made to the Jimmy Pratt Memorial Outreach Centre or to the charity of your choice.
