Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.
– Dr. Suess
Philip Douglas Harrison,
Started the party at age 69, November 20, 2020, Scarborough, Ontario
Phil would like to let you know that his work here is done. He received a call, a sort of an offer you can’t refuse, for an appointment from which he will not be returning. This assignment comes with a huge sign on bonus, a reunion with family and friends he has not seen in a long time. Job security is 110%. His new mission takes him to wonderful place where he will be socializing, dancing, playing cards, watching tv and sharing his tall stories to a captive audience to his heart’s content. Music, laughter and love are guaranteed. Food is delicious and you never gain an ounce. He left detailed instructions for his wife and loved ones to celebrate his mission here, which has now been completed.
We want to let him know that he did a great job and wish him a safe journey. We will remember his bright smile, his infectious laugh, his ad libbed and unique sense of humour, his endearing warmth, his big energy, his grand love for life, his proud and open deep respect and admiration for all who have served in the military, his family and friends. He made a difference in the lives of many.
Phil is survived by his wife Gail, his children and extended loved ones, Laurie-Lyn and Steve (deceased), Herb (deceased), Cord and Irma, Tasha and Mike, Leanne, his grandchildren Samantha and Andrew, Kyle, Tanner, Maya and Cassidy, his Mother and Father, Mabel (deceased) and Charles (deceased), his siblings David, Diane and Frank, Charlene, Candice and Bob, and beloved Nieces and Nephews. Phil had one of the biggest heart’s a guy could have and loved beyond measure, his dearest friends were always seen as family, there are just too many to name here and you all know who you are, but to name a few, the Jones’, Hartford’s, Heeley’s, Hinchliffe’s, Newell’s, Robinson’s and the list goes on.
Phil’s wishes were to be cremated, the family will hold a celebration of life in 2021, date will be determined at a later time. Many of you have reached out asking how you can help our family during this time, we appreciate your thoughtfulness, and we ask for prayers that we may find peace for this tragic loss. We are forever grateful to the ICU Doctors and Nurses at Centenary Hospital for their care and in helping him transition peacefully, with grace and dignity. In lieu of flowers, Phil would have appreciated a donation to The Salvation Army.
