Peter Weldon Hanson
1938-2020
Peter Weldon Hanson, of Riverview, passed away with his wife,
Carol, by his side at the Salvation Army Lakeview Manor Nursing Home
on Friday, July 31, 2020 at the age of 81 years. Born and
raised in Sackville, NB, he was the son of the late Olaf Berton and
Dorcas (Weldon) Hanson. He is survived by his loving wife of
52 years, Carol, sons, Kevin (Tamara) and Colin (Monica) Hanson,
sister, Jean Flemington, three grandchildren, Jakob, Sofia and Olivia,
and one step granddaughter, Alexandria . Peter was a
successful business owner, from having founded Centennial Office
Products in 1967, to selling the business in 2005. Peter was
an avid sports enthusiast who was President of the NB Midget Hockey
League for over 35 years, and donated countless hours in refereeing
thousands of amateur hockey games over his lifetime, all of which
allowed him to be inducted into the Moncton and Riverview Sports Wall
of Fames, respectively, and to have received the prestigious Order of
Merit Award issued by Hockey Canada in 2008. A private
family service will be held at Tuttle Brothers and Riverview Funeral
Home Chapel. Interment will be in the Sackville Cemetery,
alongside other family members. Donations in Peter’s memory
may be made to Riverview P.R.O. Kids and/or the Parkinson’s
Foundation and would be appreciated by the family.
