Obituary
It is with sadness, at the age of 75 years, we announce the death of Peter Chaychuk.
Peter was born June 11, 1944 at Winnipegosis, MB. His younger years were spent growing up on the farm at Duck River, MB. Peter spent many happy days growing up in the country with his 10 other siblings and his parents. Being small he would often con his older brothers for a piggy back ride to school or a friends place to visit. In 1962 Peter left home to make his way in the world first landing up in Thompson, MB working for Inco. He then went on to numerous other jobs operating equipment from Manitoba to Alberta ending up in The Pas, MB and working at Manfor Lumber Division in 1972. While living and working in The Pas, Peter met the love of his life Arlene Yellowega. On June 23, 1973 Peter married Arlene in Ethelbert, MB. Many happy years were spent with family, hunting and fishing in The Pas until Peter’s retirement in 2005 from the mill. Two years later Peter and Arlene moved to Dauphin where they spent many happy days until his passing on April 5, 2020.
Peter is survived by his loving wife Arlene, 4 siblings Nettie (Michael Derkach), Mary (Lawrence Marteniuk), Mike Chaychuk & Ronnie Chaychuk (Diane) and their families. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Lena Yellowega and her other five children, Brian Senyk (Sharon), Beverly Shepherd (Rodney), Diana Yellowega (Robert Landels), Jimmy Yellowega (Darlene), Fred Yellowega (Debbie) and their families.
A celebration of Peter’s life will be announced at a later more appropriate time. Arlene would like to thank everyone who phoned to express their condolences respecting social distancing at these difficult times. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Peter may be made to Diabetes Canada or the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.
