Obituary
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Peter John Bertens who left this world peacefully on May 27, 2020 at the Rockyview Hospital, at the age of 44 years old.
Peter is survived by his son Willem, his mother Anne Bertens, his sister Amy Webster (Robbie), his nephew Jack Webster and niece Anneke Webster. Peter was predeceased by his father John Peter Bertens, in November 2019. Peter is also survived by numerous cousins and aunts and uncles.
Peter loved the great outdoors, his love of winter camping and being in nature is what made him happiest. He loved spending time at the family cottage in Northern Ontario; fishing, picking blueberries and exploring Fairbank Lake which he knew like the back of his hand. Above everything else, Peter loved his son Willem with all his heart, he was so proud to be his father.
A private family funeral mass will be held Saturday, May 30, 2020 at St. Anthony’s Church. Interment to follow at a later day, at St. Mary’s Cemetery where Peter’s ashes will be laid to rest beside his father John.
We would like to offer a heartfelt thanks to all the nursing and medical staff on Unit 94 at the Rockyview Hospital. Their professionalism and compassion during Peter’s long stay were deeply appreciated.
