Obituary
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Peter on March 2, 2020 at Chinook Hospice. Peter will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 53 years, Ruby (nee Hennel) and his children, Connie (Neil), Pam (Jeff, Taryn, Evan) and Peter (Lisa, Cooper, Peter), as well as his sister, Kay. He was a proud man, wonderful father, loving grandfather and Ruby’s best friend.
Peter was proud of his Scottish heritage, loved fishing the Bow river and golfing as much as possible with his dear friend of over 40 years, Denis. Peter made many friendships throughout his work life at Agrium that carried into retirement and the venerable “Coffee Club”. Despite facing many health challenges throughout the years, Peter approached life with humor, Pilsner, and levity. Never one to miss an opportunity to celebrate with a fine meal, good Scotch and a long story, Peter will be missed by all those he knew and loved. Peter was a true extrovert and cared about everyone that crossed his path. To know him was to love him. Dad’s request was to not have a funeral but to have those that loved him raise a glass in his memory.
A celebration of his life will be held at a future date.
A special thank you to the staff of Unit 78 of Calgary South Health Campus and to the loving staff at Chinook Hospice who made his last week memorable and comfortable.
