Pero “Peter” Pervan
June 20, 1944 –
November 27, 2020
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Peter (Pero) Pervan who passed away at Trillium Health Partners on November 27, 2020. Pero suffered from a severe stroke and fought valiantly to survive for over a year before finally succumbing to his illness.
Survived by his beloved wife Kata, and daughter Nancy (Leigh), son Elvis (Maggie), son Steve, along with three grandsons, John, James and Victor, Pero was a first generation Croatian Canadian that created a great life for his family in Canada. He was an electrical technologist for over 25 years with Ontario Power Generation and an accomplished home builder. Pero was very involved in both the Canadian and Croatian communities, having participated in many events over the years.
Always a perfectionist, Pero believed in putting forward your best effort or “don’t bother at all.” He guided his children to always do their best while also being a loving and devoted Dad. Even during hard times, Pero sacrificed everything for his family. Money was never his primary motive since he preferred to help others in need – particularly his extended family in Croatia. Our dad Pero or Grandpa to his grandsons was a tough and disciplined man. He was a former boxer in Croatia who stood his ground to others, but was also incredibly kind and generous. Above all, Pero was very honest and trustworthy – values that each of his children share today in business, education and family.
Dad loved the outdoors and enjoyed gardening and took pride in his yearly bountiful tomato harvest. He loved spending time with his family, particularly his grandsons John, James and Victor, who truly melted his heart. As Pero became less mobile in his retirement, we truly believe that his grandsons gave him the will to live longer as they were the best part of his week. We will miss your smile, your wisdom and your wit. The empty chair in your house can never be filled and we are left with a hole in our hearts. We will never forget you dear Tata! You are in a better place now. God bless you and we shall see you soon!
Visitation by invitation will take place on Monday November 30, 2020 at Turner & Porter Peel Chapel, 2180 Hurontario Street, Mississauga, ON. A private funeral mass will be held on Tuesday December 1, 2020 at Croatian Martyrs Parish Church, 4605 Mississauga Road, Mississauga, ON followed by interment at Assumption Cemetery.
