Pauline’s Obituary
ROGERS, Pauline Marie ~ of Kingston, Kings Co., N.S., passed away peacefully in Grand View Manor, Berwick, on April 30, 2020, at the age of 83. Born in Lingan, Cape Breton, she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Greta (Pendergast) Petrie.
Pauline graduated from Nova Scotia Teacher’s College in 1954 and was a passionate and dedicated teacher. She taught in various locations including Cold Lake, Alberta and both Somerset and Greenwood in Nova Scotia. After her retirement in 1991, her passion for teaching continued as she went on to tutor children in her home for many years.
Pauline was an active member of the Catholic Women’s League, Queen of Heaven Chapel, Greenwood, where she took great joy and pride working alongside the wonderful ladies she met there. Pauline enjoyed reading novels, doing jigsaw puzzles, gardening, travelling, and had a special talent for knitting. She had a life-long love for all animals, most especially her beloved Pug, Winston. She loved going for drives, especially if the trip ended with a stop for ice-cream. But above all she loved spending time with family and friends including her grandkids, her dear sister Pat and her beloved best friend Barb.
Pauline is predeceased by her husband, Thomas Rogers; a brother in infancy, and her brother, Vincent Petrie. She is survived by her sister, Patricia Petrie, Calgary; daughters, Brenda Harper, Greenwood and Joann (Bruce) Forbes, Wilmot; sons, Philip (Ling), UAE, Michael, Kingston and Paul, Wilmot; grandchildren, Jason Smedley, Jeremy Smedley (Jessica), Dylan Harper, Kelsey Viner and Jian Yong Rogers, and great grandchildren, Kara and Kyler Smedley and Felicity Boudreau.
Cremation has taken place. A private service will take place in early October in St. Monica’s Roman Catholic Church, Middleton. Rev. Fr. John MacPherson officiating, with interment in St. Lawrence Cemetery, Kingston. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada, the Kings County SPCA, or a charity of your choice.
