Obituary
Paul Joseph Reynolds
1955-2020
It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of our dear husband and father Paul Joseph Reynolds, who died after battling Parkinson’s, Cancer, and Pulmonary Fibrosis on August 14th, 2020 at our family home in Napan at the age of 65. Paul brought fireworks into his family’s life by arriving on the July 1st Canada Day 1955. He continued to be quite the firecracker for the duration of his 65 years.
Paul and Jean had been together since grade 10 and were each other’s best friends and soul mates. Married young and surviving the ups and downs of farm life and raising a young family was never easy but they powered through. Paul was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease at a very young age but never let it slow him down. Forced into early retirement, he continued spreading his knowledge and love of horses to whomever needed the support. If there was a “BAD” horse in the area, people would say “Bring it to Paul Reynolds, he can break it.”
Although Paul continued to work hard as a self-employed welder to provide for his family, he was a farmer at heart. He always found the time to ride with his daughter Navenda. They bonded over their passion and love for horses and that bond only grew stronger as they aged.
Paul was a tough but kind man, and expected the same from his children, pushing them to be the best that they could always be, cheering from the side lines whether it be a basketball game or a riding ring.
We will miss hearing him come to the back door and yelling “PETS” (the nickname he gave Jean) and her yelling back “hold on Paul”. Memories are all we have left, each one shaping what our family is today. We love you and you will always be missed. No one ever thinks that when you kiss someone goodbye and say I love you that that will be the last time you hear that person’s voice or touch their face.
Paul is predeceased by his mother Sadie (Kirby) and his father Joseph. He is survived by his wife Jeannie (Hamilton), eldest daughter Navenda (Wright) of Fort St. John, BC and her husband Jason and their two children Jasper and Jaeger; youngest daughter Pamela (Keating) and her husband Greg and their two children Jackson and Ryan. He is also survived by two sisters Barb Anderson (John) and Joanne MacLean (Peter) and his brothers Patrick (Theresa), Ron (Carmel), Greg, Chris, Ken (Cathy). Paul is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Paul will be resting at Adams Funeral home with a PUBLIC visitation on Wednesday August 19th, 2020 from 2-4 and 7-9 and a PRIVATE Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Adams Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday August 20th, 2020 with Father John Keoughan as Celebrant.
In Paul’s memory, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Canadian Lung Association, Parkinson Canada or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
