Memorial Donation
It is with great sorrow that we announce the death of Pat on March 8, 2020 in Oakville, Ontario. Loving wife of Michael for over 60 years. Treasured mom to Jenn (Andrew) and Stephen (predeceased). Beloved sister to Doug (Linn) of Lively, caring aunt to several nieces and nephews, and dear friend to many. Daughter of Ted and Jessie Fosten (both predeceased), Pat grew up in Copper Cliff, and trained as a nurse at Ottawa Civic Hospital. After nursing in London, Ontario, Pat returned to Sudbury to continue her career, working at Copper Cliff Hospital and Sudbury General Hospital on wards, in the operating room and in the pharmacy. She met and married Mike in June 1959. They raised their family and shared many adventures including moving to Oakville and Bermuda, returning to Oakville in 1988. Travel was a big part of Pat and Mike’s life, and they visited many countries by air and sea; highlights included hanging by helicopter over Rotorua in New Zealand, ziplining in Costa Rica (in her 70s!), cruising the Norwegian fjords, and touring a host of castles in the UK. One of her favourite spots was Naples, Florida, at a condo close to Vanderbilt Beach and shopping – two key pastimes that Pat enjoyed frequently! Pat was vibrant, warm, intelligent and caring, and people loved to be in her company, enjoying her hospitality, lively conversation and her hilarious sense of humour. Our thanks and sincere gratitude to the fabulous care from the staff of 3N at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Arthritis Society. Due to COVID-19 a celebration of life will be held at a later date this spring at the Kopriva Taylor Funeral Home in Oakville.
