Obituary
It is with heavy hearts the family of Michael Osborne announce his peaceful passing which occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on April 29, 2020.
Mike was a true labour activist who represented the members of CUPE local 2745, Sub local 13 for 2 years as President and became Regional Vice President of the newly formed Region 2, He was also chair of the Regional Action Committee dedicating his time to the many causes of various unions of CUPE and CUPE NB committees. He was passionate about his union work and dedicated many hours to CUPE events and rallies.
He volunteered as a baseball coach for the River Valley Baseball Association. For 9 summers he coached the kids in ball and ended most practices with a fun filled trip to the beach.
He was a previous employee at Saint John Ship Building as an Iron Worker where he was shop steward for Local 3.
For 19 years he was employed with Anglophone South School District working at several schools in the Saint John area as an Educational Assistant, the past 11 years were at Westfield Elementary School
His most treasured times were spent with his grandchildren who he loved and adored.
He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife Janice (Wood) Osborne, his devoted children, sons Timothy Osborne of Grand Bay-Westfield NB, Jeffrey Osborne (Sarah Steeves) of Saint John NB and daughter Tara Osborne (Jason Melvin) of Grand Bay-Westfield NB, he leaves behind 5 loving grandchildren, Mason, Ashlee, Emma, Serenity and Carly. Sister Cynthia (David) Logan of Saint John NB and brother James Osborne (Stephanie Gaudet) of Moncton NB as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews
He was predeceased by his parents Frederick and Blanche (Marks) Osborne and sister Candace MacDonald.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). At this time, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A Memorial Service will take place at a later date. Donations in memory of Michael may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
