Owen Lawrence Dermody
2001-2020
Dermody, Owen Lawrence –
Whycocomagh. It is with profound sadness we announce the tragic
passing of Owen Lawrence Dermody, age 19, on Saturday, August 8, 2020.
Owen was born on April 30, 2001, in Sydney, to parents Adrienne
(Campbell) and Wayne Dermody.
Owen was the youngest of three children, raised in a loving
home in Whycocomagh with his brother, Cole, and sister, Dionne. He is
survived by grandparents, Helen and Bill Campbell, Sheila Dermody, and
accompanied by our late grandfather, Michael Dermody; step-siblings,
Amber, Justin and Jordan.
Owen graduated Dalbrae Academy in 2019 and received a
certificate in pipefitting in June 2020. He lived a quite simple and
relaxing yet fulfilling life. Things others may take for granted; Owen
cherished every day. He was most happy spending time with family,
friends, and his beautiful girlfriend, Maddy Eisenhauer. Owen was
always ready for an adventure. Often times you could find him by the
campfire in the hammock, under the sunset, with his canine buddy,
Miesha and listening to John Prine.
He would always have a random fact to share and could recite
his favorite movies word for word. Owen was overly excited this week
for his first tattoo, “DERMODY” – that he wore
proudly above his heart. From telling jokes to his contagious smile,
Owen always brightened the room. He will forever be remembered for his
kind and genuine heart.
A graveside service will be held at a later date.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Dennis
Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Whycocomagh. Words of comfort may be
