Orlie Beverly MacLean
1926-2020
Orlie B. MacLean of Harvey, NB passed away on April 3, 2020 at the
Wauklehegan Manor in McAdam, NB. Born in Dalhousie, NB, on November
30, 1926 he was the oldest son of the late Cecil and May (Bell)
MacLean. Orlie is survived by his children, Anne Stewart (Dr. John)
of St. Stephen, NB, Bonnie Swan (Levurn), Greg MacLean, Trent MacLean
(Karen) and Scott MacLean (Denise); brothers Wayne MacLean (Beryl) and
Paul MacLean (Clara) all of Harvey, NB. Grandchildren Jeffrey Swan
(Dr. Amber), Jerrad Swan (Michelle), Nicholas MacDonald (Lindsay),
Lindsay MacLean (Darren), Kaitlin Pauley (Jeremy), Courtney Goos
(Joey), Cameron MacLean, Isaac MacLean (Liz), Scott Stewart (Julie),
David Stewart (Lisa), Jill McCarville (Chris) and Jayne Stewart.
Several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Sisters in-law, Ena
MacLean and Lynn Hartt; brothers in-law Bryce Hare (Joan) and Vaughn
Hare (Judy).
Orlie was predeceased by his wife Eleanor (Hare), brothers, Milton
(late Anne), Blake (late Delphine), Sydney and John (late Janice) and
a great grandson Abraham.
Orlie worked as a self-employed truck driver, but was best known as
the “Rabbit Man”. He had many lifelong friends made
through his business of buying and exporting wild hare. When Orlie
wasn’t shipping rabbits, you would always see him at the Harvey
basketball games. Many thanks to those who took great care of him at
the games. Orlie loved to go to horse pulls and his passion was the
pull in Harvey on Harvey Fair Days.
Orlie served as Fire Chief for 11 years for the Harvey Volunteer Fire
Department. He was a 60 year plus member of Cherry Mountain Lodge No
50.
A special thank you to the nurses and staff at Wauklehegan Manor for
taking such good care of Dad.
There will be no visitation at this time. A funeral service will take
place at a later date.
For those who wish to make a donation in Orlie’s memory, the
family has suggested the Harvey Settlement Cemetery.
