It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of our dearest mother Olive Haynes (nee Cook) on November 30, 2020, age 95 years. She showed us the importance of family and taught us how to cook, knit and play a mean game of cards. Thank you, mom, for all the happy memories, you will be forever missed. Predeceased by her husband Gus; brothers Clarence and Ronald Cook; sisters Ethel Duffett, Winnifred Summers, Allison Kerwin, and Edith Quinn; and her granddaughter Sandra Bourgeois.
Left to mourn with fond and loving memories her children Marilyn Haynes (special friend Dan Meades), Barbara Lannon (Terry), and Jeanette Garland (Dave); brother Arthur Cook; sister Gertrude Gladney; grandchildren Holly and Lindsay Dyke, Jason Lannon (Evelyn), Jennifer Adey (Matthew), Melanie Pippy (Chris), Renee Gaulton (Seymour), Bill Bourgeois (Melissa); great-grandchildren Caeley, Nathan, Charlette, Jonathan, Chelsea, Charley, Christian, Cassandra, Cierra, Cameron, Kadence, and Keegan; step great-grandson Ryan; great-great grandchild Myla; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Special thanks to the staff at Karwood Retirement Retreat for the caring and kindness shown to mom over the last 5 years. Also, a big hug and thank-you to Josephine Woodfine who was a dear friend and roommate to mom.
Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Wednesday, December 2 from 10 am – 12 pm & 2 PM – 4 PM and Thursday, December 3 from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 pm. A funeral service will take place from St. Thomas Anglican Church on Friday, December 4 at 2:00 PM with interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Forest Road. Flowers are graciously accepted, or donations in her memory may be made to St. Thomas Anglican Church or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
