Olav Brochmann

Brochmann, Olav Marinius
The family of Olav Brochmann is sad to announce his passing on the 18th of January 2020 in Gander, Newfoundland.
Born in Nikkeby, Norway on May 30th, 1935, Olav was the son of the late Peder and Astrid Brochmann.
He is survived by his sister Gunn, his nephew Julian and niece Anne-Marie.
As a child and into his teens Olav adored his Island home of Nikkeby, Norway. It was here that he would learn all about the fishing industry which ultimately led him to form his own business of “Canstock” which he operated in Eastport, Newfoundland.
Olav resided in East Port for 40 years and made many lasting friendships in the area.
Cremation has taken place upon his request, and his ashes will be sent to his beloved homeland of Norway to rest alongside his parents.
We would like to thank the staff at the Lakeside Nursing home for their exceptional care. A special thank you to his close friends Blanch and Doug Powell for all they have done for Olav throughout his time in Eastport and during his time of illness. Also, to his friends Gene and May Hedges for your kindness and compassion during his final hours.
Donations in Olav’s honor can be made to your local Food Bank.
