NORMAN DALE SETTEE
Norm was born November 21, 1937 and passed away peacefully Sunday, March 29, 2020 at Seven Oaks Hospital.
He was predeceased by his parents Norman and Esther Settee, brother Keith, sisters-in-law Sharon and Barbara and nephews Bruce and Ryan. He lost his wife Mary in 1998 and his partner Olive Haley in 2007.
He is survived by his sister Esme (Gordon) Mitchell and brothers Brian (Mary), Burke, Lyle and Aubrey (Moira).
The family thanks the staff at Seven Oaks Urgent Care and Unit 5 for their kind and compassionate care during Norm’s final illness. Also thank you to the WRHA workers who took great care of Norm in the last months of his life and to the staff at St. Benedict’s Place his last place of residence for all your kindness and care.
Norm went to school at Lord Selkirk, Tec Voc and later Adult Education. He loved his country and enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force (1956-61) graduating from the Electronic Schools at Clinton and Camp Borden, Ontario. He served with NATO Forces in Europe as a Weapons Technician and later worked with FELEC Services Electronic Support on the DEW Line in Cambridge Bay, NWT. Norm also worked in Politics as Executive Assistant to Public Works Minister Russ Doern and Premier Edward Schreyer. Norm retired in 1997 from Powell Equipment. He joined the Commissionaires working at the Winnipeg Taxation Centre until his full retirement.
Norm enjoyed reading, fishing and repairing anything mechanical or electrical. He was also the writer of many letters to the editor.
Cremation has taken place. Due to the current situation there will be no service at this time. Norm’s ashes will be interred at a later date.
