SCHNEIDER, Norman Leslie
July 19, 1940 – May 19, 2020
Norm was the third of four children born in Duff, SK to parents Margaret (Kraushaar) and Fred Schneider. He attended the one room school in Yola from grades 1 – 8 while helping his parents farm their land in Duff. Norm graduated from Duff High School in 1958 and then worked and lived in Melville. He eventually moved to Regina to work for SGI where he would meet his future wife, Lucille in 1962. They would marry in Melville on September 5, 1964. They purchased their first home in Sutherland and began to raise their family while Norm worked at the steel mill. In 1972, he suffered a severe accident at the mill which brought an end to his career in construction. He returned to the insurance industry as a claims adjuster and was soon travelling throughout the province, making friends everywhere he went. After working for many years for a private firm, he ventured out with his colleagues to start their own company, Allwest Adjusters, Inc. This risk was a huge turning point for Norm in his independence and success as a businessman. He enjoyed his work travelling and adjusting disaster claims throughout Canada, the USA, St. Maarten and Jamaica. Any time Norm saw SK license plates in his travels, he would introduce himself and make some personal connection of having done a claim for a friend or relative of that person. He spent many summers fishing, golfing and enjoying his beautiful log cabin at Candle Lake, which he built from the ground up. Winters were spent snowmobiling and helping to found the The Sno-Drifters. After enjoying his time at the cabin and travelling to Hawaii to escape the cold SK winters, Norm and Lucille bought their winter home in Arizona. Many sunny winters were spent making dear friends and serving as an Elder in their 2nd home church in Apache Junction, AZ. Norm leaves behind many dear friends and family who will miss his presence on this earth, including his sisters, Helen (Walter) Miller, Adeline (Reinhold) Miller, and Marj (Jack) Hanlon along with many nieces and nephews. He dearly missed his parents and we are so grateful that he is once again united with them. His daughters, Vicki Laewetz and Tara (Bruce) Ryan, along with their children, Alex & Brynn Laewetz and Jordyn & Janaya Ryan are left to celebrate his life and mourn the loss of their dear dad. After 56 years of marriage, his wife Lucille will miss him dearly, yet we all celebrate that he is no longer in pain and beginning his time in eternity with his Heavenly Father. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate any donation made in Norm’s name to the Canadian Lung Association. We love you dad.
