Norman Ernest Munroe
1926-2020
Grampy Dad Husband Son
Watchmaker
Norman died peacefully on
Friday, December 25, 2020 at the age of 94. He was born and raised in
Springhill, N.S., a son of the late Ernest A. Munroe and Selina
(Moore) Munroe. In 1948, Norman was married to Audrey (Graf) with whom
he moved to Moncton for work and to raise their
family.
Norman was a watchmaker by trade
and worked in the Catalogue Division at Eaton’s for 26
years. He then did watch and jewellery repair out of his own workshop,
as well as repair work for other jewellery stores. He was a member of
the T. Eaton Co 1/4 Century Club, Acacia Lodge #49 F. & A.M.,
Scottish Rite A & A.S.R., and a former Elder of St.
John’s United Church. Norman had also volunteered and served
as a veteran of WWII.
Norman was predeceased by
Audrey, his wife of 64 years, and by his only brother, Dr. Roy Munroe
(Sylvia) of Stellarton, N.S. He is survived by his sons Larry Munroe
(Ellen) of Fredericton and Alan Munroe (Janet) of Moncton; his
grandsons Kyle (Karynne) Munroe of Halifax, Kirk (Miranda) Munroe of
Fredericton, Jonas Munroe of Moncton, and Garet Munroe of
Moncton.
Norman was a hard worker with a
gentle soul, who was both kind and humble. He could be found working
away in his workshop or doing odd jobs around his home. He enjoyed
spending time with family, especially when a meal was being shared
along with good conversation. His favourite title was
“Grampy” to his four grandsons. He loved spending time with
them whether that meant rocking them to sleep as babies, playing
games, having a visit, or attending their weddings. Norm was always so
proud.
The family would like to express
their sincere gratitude to Susan Dixson and all the staff at
SerenaCare for the amazing care and support Norman received over the
last few years. We are forever grateful. The family would also like to
thank Dr. Jocelyn Cormier, Dr. Andre Poirier and the staff of 5600
(Moncton Hospital) for the wonderful care
provided.
There will be no visitation by
request. Family will have a private graveside service to be held at
Hillside Cemetery in Springhill, N.S. at a later
date.
Arrangements have been entrusted
to Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton
(858-1995).
In lieu of flowers, donations to
a charity of choice would be appreciated by the family. Online
condolences for the family may be shared at

I’m so very sorry to read about Norm’s passing. I enjoyed chatting with Norm every time I went to visit my mother, Alcha, at SerenaCare. Norm was such a kind and gentle soul. His presence will be greatly missed.
