Lafontaine, Noretta Anne (nee Savage) 1937 – 2020
It is with great sadness that the Lafontaine family announces the passing of Noretta Anne, peacefully at Cassellholme with family by her side on February 12, 2020.
Noretta is survived by her beloved husband of 63 years, Lucien Joseph Lafontaine (Lou) and their three children. Joseph (Hilary), Monique, and Timothy (Elaine). She was predeceased by their son Jean Guy Lafontaine.
Noretta is also survived by 8 grandchildren: Cringan, Arthur and Lilian Lafontaine. Andrew (Katrina) and Katelyn Proulx. Sean, Elizabeth and Alexandra Lafontaine. 3 great grandchildren Carson, Eric and Olivia.
Born on May 23, 1937 in North Bay, Ontario to Aurel F. Savage and Norah A. Savage (nee O’Connor). One of four children, survived by Francis Savage (Buck), Collette Luxton, and predeceased by Fernand Savage.
Noretta will be missed by Cathy, Karen, and Angela along with her numerous nieces and nephews.
Noretta graduated from Algonquin Collegiate in 1955. She attended Nursing College in Sudbury in 1956. Nan and Lou were married November 9th 1957 at St. Rita’s church in North Bay, On.
Nan worked as a nurse in Wainwright Alberta and in North Bay at the Civic Hospital. She retired from the Civic hospital in 1992.
The Lafontaine Family will be receiving family and friends at Hillside Funeral Services on Friday February 21, 2020 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm followed by prayers.
A funeral mass will be held at 11am on Saturday February 22nd at St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 299 Airport Road, North Bay. Followed by a reception at 12:30 pm (continuation of celebration) at Ecole secondaire publique Odyssée, 480 Norman Ave, North Bay, On.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cassellholme or the St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church.
A sincere heartfelt thank you is extended to the staff of Cassellholme.
