Passed away peacefully at his home in Alliston, ON Sunday, December 6, 2020 in his 82nd year. Loving husband of Rosemarie Hoferichter. Loved father of Peter Hoferichter (Carol), Jacqueline Hope (Kevin) and Martin Hoferichter (Laura). Cherished opa of Mathew Hope and Katherine Walcott (Daniel). Loved brother of Lieselotte David and Klaus Hoferichter. Bert will be fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Drury Funeral Centre, 519 Victoria St. E., Alliston on Saturday, December 12, 2020 with visitation from 12 noon until time of service at 2 p.m. *Please note due to COVID-19 visitation will be scheduled in 15 minute intervals, all visitors must e-mail druryfc@bellnet.ca to reserve a time. Visitation times available are 12, 12:30, 1 and 1:30. All visitors are required to wear and provide their own mask. If you are not feeling well, please send your condolences to the Hoferichter family.*
If so desired memorial donations to World Vision, Princess Margaret Cancer Centre and Toronto General Hospital Fdn., would be greatly appreciated.
Bert is an award-winning photographer. He was the owner of “Photoport” in Port Credit for 25 Years.In 1970 and 1971, Bert won “The Canadian Professional Photographer of the Year” award, presented to him by the Canadian Icon of Portraiture, Yousuf Karsh. Bert has created memorable photographic studies of some of Canada’s most famous in every field of endeavor – politics, religion, business, and the arts. Norbert’s work is collected in the National Archives in Ottawa and the permanent “American Loan Collection.” In his career, he has won some 35 National and International awards for his work. Bert did the photography for the very successful movie “Big North“ for Ontario Place. He was the official Photographer for both, the 1976 Olympics in Montreal and the 1988 Olympics in Calgary. He was the director of the Creative Photography Program at Humber College. After a live-saving heart-transplant, Bert wrote a book about the experience: “The Waiting Game”.
