Nona ‘Alayne’ Martell
1970-2020
MARTELL, Nona ‘Alayne’ -We are
saddened to announce the passing of Alayne Martell, 50, in the VG
Hospital in Halifax on Sunday, November 29, 2020. A bright light in
our lives has been extinguished but the amount of love, positivity,
and strength she radiated will remain prominent in every soul who had
the pleasure of meeting her.
Alayne was the daughter of Lester and Carolyn Martell.
Besides her mother, she is survived by the light of her life,
daughter, Molly and fur baby Marley; her beloved partner, Donald
MacNeil, whose commitment and strength over the past year never ceases
to amaze her family, and his children, Jenna and Brennan; her brother,
Blaire, and wife, Muriel, and their children, Danielle (Andy),
god-daughter Meghan (Colby), Janelle (Tyler), Chelsey (Logan) and
grandniece, Lilah; sister-in-law Kendra (Reg) and many aunts, uncles,
and cousins. She is also survived by her best friend and her person,
Andrea Temple, who was always by her side to make her laugh in the
hardest times.
Alayne was predeceased by her father, Lester, and younger
brother, Claude. Alayne always had a special connection with her
father and brother, who would drop everything and rush to her side
anytime she needed them. We are comforted by the thought of them
reuniting.
We would like to send out a special thank you to the
dedicated doctors, nurses, and staff at the Halifax VG Hospital,
especially those who cared for Alayne on 8th
floor Hematology and on the 3rd floor
ICU.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions a private family visitation and
burial will take place. Family and friends will celebrate her life at
a later date when we can all gather again.
Funeral directions are under Haverstock’s Funeral
Home in Port Hawkesbury. In lieu of flowers, the family would like
donations to be made in her memory to the Cancer Patient Care Fund
through the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation, 45 Weatherbee
Road, Suite 209, Sydney, NS B1M 0A1.
“Sometimes
it feels like there are so many things in this world that we
can’t control. Earthquakes, floods, reality shows. But
it’s important to remember the things that we can
– like forgiveness, second chances, fresh starts. Because
the one thing that changes the world from a lonely place to a
beautiful place is love. Love, in any of its forms, love gives us
hope.”

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Nona ‘Alayne’ Martell 19702020..
