Noemi Otto
Noemi “Jo” Otto, resident of Spirit River, AB, formerly of Woking, AB, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2020 at Central Peace Health Complex in Spirit River, at the age of 90 years.
Noemi was born September 16, 1929 in smith, AB. She married Gordon Otto on January 6, 1961. Noemi and Gordon took over the Otto family farm and resided there until 2015. They then moved to Spirit River. Noemi lost her lifelong friend and husband, Gordon, in 2017. They had been married for 56 years.
Jo loved sports. Her favourites were golf and curling. She also enjoyed bingo and playing cards, especially cribbage. Jo was a proud member of the CWL for over 60 years. She loved get-togethers with family and friends. She would light up the room with her radiant smile and laughter. Jo was a very kind and giving person. She loved kids and would help anyone who was in need.
She will be sadly missed by her sisters: Olga Schwemler, Lena Floreani, Mary Jensen, Phyllis Floreani, and Alberta Floreani; as well as many nephews, nieces, and friends.
Noemi was predeceased by her father Basillio Floreani, mother Rosa Benedetti, sister Alberta Floreani, and brother Angelo Floreani.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2020, at 11:00am, at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Rycroft, AB. A Viewing will be held prior at 10:00am. Interment to follow at Spirit River Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer Society of Alberta and NWT (102, 9823 116 Ave., Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 4B4) or to a charity of one’s choice.
