Passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at Chartwell Westmount Long Term Care at the age of 96.
Beloved husband of Meta Schmidt for 60 years.
Loving father of David Schmidt (Diane) and MaryAnne Young (Allen).
Cherished Opa of Jaymie (Felipe), Katie, Nick (Danica), Yvonne, Lyneia (Jamie) and Dalton and Great-Opa of Madeleine and Emmett.
Dear brother of Katie Wiebe (the late Dietrich).
Survived by many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his sisters Agnes Janzen (John), Anna Pauls (Korni) and Maria Fast (Alfred), and by his grandson Jason Young.
Nik’s favourite past time was camping in the Provincial Park’s in Ontario with his family and restoring his cedar strip boat.
Nik’s family will receive relatives and friends from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. A Funeral Service will be held in the chapel of the funeral home, on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow. Interment at Woodland Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Mental Health Association Waterloo Wellington would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
