Nerenne Pearl Russell 19212020

Nerenne Pearl Russell
1921-2020
Nerenne Pearl Russell, 98, went to be with her Lord and
Saviour on June 23rd, 2020. She passed away peacefully at her
home in her favorite sun room surrounded by her loving
family.
Nerenne was born in Fredericton on July 26, 1921, the
daughter of the late Whitman and Pearl (Goodfellow)
Kelly.
She was a school teacher and had a passion for teaching
children. Her calm but stern way was a real testimony to her
ability to reach the needs of all the children she
taught over the years. She was an outstanding teacher and will be
remembered by many generations. She was active in the School
Board of Directors for NB Teachers Association and received
a Centennial Award in 1984 for Teachers who had gone
above and beyond. She was also a farmer’s wife and she loved living on
the farm. She embraced the early mornings and made all the meals for
the haymakers and friends that would come to help. Nerenne was known
for her baking abilities and her beautiful garden. Her faith was very
important to her and she was an active member of the
Hillsborough United Church going whenever she could. She
belonged to the Church Choir and the United Church Women’s Group. She
was also a member of the Women’s Institute and Hillsborough Seniors
Club. Nerenne always put one hundred percent into
whatever she did, and always accomplished what she set out to
do. She had made many close friendships over the years
because of her kindness and caring for others. She was just a
real country lady who welcomed anyone that needed a hand or just a
meal, her door was always open. She felt blessed to be able to spend
her last days at her home and have the support of her family as her
health deteriorated. A quote that fits Nerenne’s character –
“Kindness is more than deeds. It is an attitude, an expression, a
look, a touch. It’s anything that lifts another
person”.
She will be deeply missed by her son, Barry Russell (Mary)
of Weldon; her grandchildren, Anneke, Alina and Arthur; great
grandchildren, Benjermin, Charlie, Kali and Alexis; sisters, Helen
Currie of Douglas, Carolyn Joyce of Edmonton and Sharon Turner of
Sus. She will also be sadly missed by several nieces and nephews
and many friends.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her beloved
husband, Charles Russell; son, Richard “Rick”; sisters, Ella
Howard, Leah Goodine, Ruth Inch, Edna MacDonald; brothers, Willard
Kelly, Edward Kelly and Robert Kelly.
Honouring
her own wishes there will be no visitation. Due to the Covid-19
restrictions a Memorial Service will be held at the Hillsborough
United Church with immediate family and a few close friends. The
Memorial Service will also be live streamed on the Hillsborough
United Church’s Facebook page Friday, June 26th at 2pm.
Interment will be held in the Hopewell Cemetery following the
service.
Donations to the Hillsborough United Church or charity of
the donor’s choice would be greatly appreciated.
Arrangements are in the care of the Albert County Funeral
