1932-2020
Read – The
death occurred at Andrews of Stratford, on Thursday, July 23, 2020, of
Verne Read, of Stratford, PE, formerly of Halifax, NS, aged 88 years.
Born in Summerside, he was the son of the late Bishop and Vera
(Carruthers) Read and step-son of the late Ada Jane Stevenson.
Survived by his brother Balfour (Shirley) Read; sister-in-law Marjorie
Read; close friend Darlene Larter; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his brother Dr. Dean Carruthers Read; and by a sister
Emma Jane (David) Ingham. Resting at the Moase Funeral Home,
Summerside. A private family graveside service will be held at Peoples
Cemetery, Summerside. Memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society or a
charity of choice would be appreciated.
