Nell St Marie nee Forbes March 2nd 1921 June 21st 2020

St. Marie, Nell (née Forbes) aged 99 of Vancouver BC, passed away peacefully on Sunday June 21, 2020. Nell was born in Vernon BC on March 2nd, 1921 and lived in the Okanagan until Vancouver called to her in 1948. She is survived by her daughter Sue, daughter-in-law Sue Motty, and nephews Mel (Pauline), Ken (Val), John (Joan) and nieces Barb (Mike), Bonnie, Shelley (Bryan) and their families. Predeceased by husband Joe, sisters Eileen and Kas, brother Ken and niece Sue. Nell was always musically inclined, playing the piano at local recitals as a child and continuing to play throughout her life. Nell was a long time member of The Sweet Adelines chorus in Vancouver. She worked as a telephone operator at BC Tel and other companies. Through work and hobbies she made and kept lifelong friendships, including Shirley, Enid & Hal, Lillian and Norma. Nell and Joe volunteered at Meals on Wheels for over 15 years. She was a very good cook and had an effortless way of arranging flowers, both talents she inherited from her parents. She enjoyed travelling and spent many happy summers in Armstrong, Oliver and winters in Indio CA with family. Family was very important to Nell and she had a very special fondness for John and Joan. Many thanks to the staff at Yaletown House for all the care and support you provided. No service at this time, a gathering of family and friends will be held at a future date.
