Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Neil Weston Hemming in the early morning hours of July 17, 2020. Neil will be remembered by his sister Betty (John Ruxton) of Woodstock, Ontario and brothers Cliff (Tanya) of Mississauga, Ontario, Jeff (Nancy) of Paisley, Ontario, Ian of Courtenay, BC and Grant (Brenda) of Didsbury, Alberta and his wife Jacqueline. He is also survived by his son Colin and his three daughters Lori, Aimee and Emily and a multitude of grandkids.
Neil was born on December 15, 1953 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hamilton, Ontario to Marion and Eric Hemming and grew up in the Owen Sound area where he attended elementary school. He worked for the family upholstery business in Owen Sound before relocating west in the 1970’s becoming the owner and permanent fixture of Aabco Pawn for more than 30 years in Kelowna and Cranbrook. Neil was a valued member of various gun clubs in BC and shared his love for guns, hunting and outdoors with those who surrounded him. He will be greatly missed by his friends he acquired through Aabco and the various organizations’ he was a part of and the almost daily “safety meetings” he shared with his friends. Neil’s family would like to thank Mark Memorial Funeral Home in Cranbrook for their outstanding care and kindness during their time of loss.
A celebration of life will be held for Neil on Sunday, August 30th at the Cranbrook Rod and Gun Club beginning at 2 pm in the Clubhouse.
