In Loving Memory Of
Morris Sedger
It is with great sadness the family of Morris McDougall Sedger announce his passing on Tuesday, December 8, 2020, at Prairie Lake Hospice in Grande Prairie, AB at the age of 83 years.
Morris was born on December 6, 1937 and raised in Melfort, SK.
He enjoyed a long career in the oil patch working mostly as a rig hand. He worked for Cactus Drilling in Pincher Creek where he met the love of his life, Violet.
They were married on October 26, 1979 and Morris became a cherished member of her family and father to her children.
He went on to work for brother Harvey at Sedger Petroleum in Lougheed, AB, then on to Kenting Drilling in 1979 alongside Allen. He retired from Kenting Hightower and his oilfield career in 1997, then worked briefly in construction with Dale before he fully retired with Violet back to her family farm in Grimshaw.
They enjoyed many years there and he loved being outdoors, going on walks with the grandkids, playing crib, raising chickens and he really came to life when visitors arrived. He was always willing to lend a hand to friends and neighbours. He was never afraid of hard work and was always eager to get a job done.
The last few years, he was a kind and gentle caregiver for Violet, whose health was in decline.
He will be lovingly remembered by his stepsons: Allen (Mandy) Himer, Dale (Lynne) Himer, step-daughter Monica (Dale) Dublanko, sister Marjorie Stephen; son Jim Clark; nephew John Sedger; grandchildren: Jennifer, Nicole (Jackie), Amy (Mathieu), Erin, Chelsea, Michael, Elek, Shaun (Michelle) and Tracey; as well as great-grandchildren: Blake, Lucas, Paityn, Autumn, Hunter, Tristan, Jessica, Austin and Savannah.
He was predeceased by his wife of 41 years Violet Sedger (nee Erdely), his parents James and Georgina Sedger; brothers: Russell, Stan, Harvey and George Sedger; as well as stepdaughters: Cathy Himer and Doreen Socha.
A great big thank you to the staff at Prairie Lake Hospice for taking such loving care of Morris during the short time he was there.
Due to COVID 19 restrictions a memorial service will be planned in the spring of 2021.
