Obituary of Mona Rector
Monica “Mona” Isabel Rector age 86 of Haven Brook Manor, Riverton formerly of Thorburn passed away on January, 12, 2020 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in New Glasgow she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Lillian (Hallam) Nickerson.
Mona loved her family and loved spending time with them. She would help out anyone in need and supported many charities. She was very knowledgeable about all aspects of life and was an avid reader. She had worked for Sears for many years, in Toronto and both New Glasgow locations.
Surviving are her children Bruce Rector, Lake George, Aylesford; Teresa (Billy) Mahar; Priestville; James “Jim” (Joy) Rector, Stellarton; Susan Rector, Valley View Villa; Reginald (Carol) Rector, Westville; Joyce (Bobby) MacKenzie, Abercrombie; 15 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; brother Joseph Nickerson, Toronto; sister Catherine Jardine, Trenton.
She was predeceased by her husband Norman, a daughter-in-law Maureen, sister Marie Deagle and brothers John and George Nickerson.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Thursday in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Friday in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles McPherson officiating. Burial will be in the Thorburn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to Summer Street Industries.
