Moise Cleophas Cleo Cormier March 31 2020

Moise Cleophas (Cleo) Cormier
March 31, 2020
Cleophas Cormier died peacefully, age 86, at Sacred Heart Community Health Centre on March 31, 2020. Our Uncle was a brave and courageous man who faced many health challenges over the last 12 years. His favorite words of wisdom were, “Always be ready to adjust your sails”, and he practiced that each and every day as he slowly dealt with his limited mobility due to stroke. He was born and raised by Helen and Moise in Grand Etang and Le Plakva. Our Uncle left the community in 1952 to pursue his education at St FX University, received his Business Degree and later graduated with his Masters in Economics in Toronto, Ontario. In order to achieve his goals, he joined the ROTC and worked during the summer months before he graduated from St FX University. Cleo was a very determined, goal oriented type of person who lived a very full but modest life. He worked as an Economist and Branch Director of Fisheries and Oceans for 35 years and retired from the Federal Government at the age of 55. Cleo spent his retirement days outdoors, fishing and hiking with his dog Tico. He acquired a sailboat, taught sailing and spent a fair amount of time on the water. He was a man of great faith, and dedicated much of his time as a member of St. Clements Church in Dartmouth, NS where he resided with his wife, Marie Jeanne. His passion and love of Le “Plakva” eventually drew him back to his native home.
Feeling a great loss are his closest family members who helped ease the days of his journey home in loving ways: nieces and nephews, Shirley MacEachern, Rose Marie Chiasson, Arthur, Marie Delia, Priscilla, Leon (Kathy MacArthur), Richard and Sheila. Mourning the passing of their Uncle are also many other siblings residing outside this province. He was predeceased by his wife Marie Jeanne, and sisters and brothers: Mary Cecile (Joseph,) Ernestine (Joseph), Joseph Albert (Yvonne), Denis Patrice (Marie Margaret), Elie George (Rosella), Gaston, Lionel, and Edmond Bernard (Mary).
The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to Cleo’s physician, Dr. Paul Sonier, and all other health care providers who looked after our Uncle during his short stay at Sacred Heart Community Health Centre.
“Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.”
A funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph’s Church, St. Joseph du Moine and will be announced at a later date. Donations may be made to Diabetes Canada or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Moise Cleophas Cleo Cormier March 31 2020..
