Died on Friday, November 27, 2020 at McCormick Home, London, Ontario. Lovingly remembered by her children: Kathy (George) Zador, Karen Button (Dennis Sparks), Kent Mills (Julie Preston); grandchildren: Tim (Gillian) Button, Lesli (Tom) Flinn, Claire (Geoff) Matthews, Lindsay Zador (Glen Coombs), Alex Mills, Kiara Graham (Michael Showler), Caelum Graham, Alison Mills, and Cameron Mills; great-grandchildren: Brynn, Blythe, Tristan, Connor, Anna-Greta, Shaelyn, Liv, Owen, and Lincoln; and many treasured nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband, Dr. Frank Mills (2013); daughter, Marnie (Malcolm) Graham (2016); son, Kevin (Valerie) Mills (2020); brother, Bob (Maryn) Anderson; and sisters, Helen (Colin) MacKeigan and Peg (Dougall) Pollock. Marion will be deeply missed by her loving companion, Charlie Tulloch, as well as by his daughter and son-in-law, Helen and Gary Nash.
Born March 9, 1927 in Strathroy, Ontario to Henry and Greeta (McGeary) Anderson, Marion spent her formative years in Strathroy followed by nursing studies at St. Joseph’s Hospital in London.
Besides her devotion to family and friends, Marion lived a life of service to others as a church organist, choir director, active member of IODE and faithful supporter of Christian women’s groups and activities. She and Frank built strong friendships wherever they lived during their 64-year marriage including Strathroy, Detroit, Wroxeter, Gorrie, Goderich, Barrie, Sudbury, St. Catharines, Rondeau Park, Cape Coral, Elliot Lake and London.
A talented seamstress, pianist, bridge player and homemaker, Marion has left a legacy of musical talent, creativity, lifelong learning and intellectual curiosity among her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for her love of family and quest for excellence in all she pursued. From her earliest accomplishments, including serving as her graduating class valedictorian, until her final day, this very bright lady was completing mental checklists and receiving affirmation from her family that her life’s work was fulfilled.
A very special note of appreciation goes to all of the staff at McCormick Home. They have treated Marion with unconditional love, kindness, acceptance and care during her decade long residency. They were so good to her in every conceivable way!
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date at Strathroy Municipal Cemetery in Strathroy. Donations directed to the McCormick Care Foundation or the charity of your choice would be gratefully received.
