Michael Roy Potters
December 18, 1960 – February 22, 2020
Unexpectedly at his home in Cherry Valley ON, Friday February 21, 2020, at the age of 59. Adoring father of Mia and fur baby Lola. Loving son of Betty Bannerman and John Potters (Jackie). Cherished brother to Bill (Harriet), Steve (Sunday), and John Paul (Toni). Predeceased by brother Robert (2002). Always the coolest Uncle Mike to his nieces and nephews Lindsay (Chris) & family, Michael, Mark, Meghan, Oasis and Jamie. Beloved nephew of Shirley Gibson. Michael will also be missed by Mia’s mom, Karin Desveaux, and many friends and colleagues. Michael was an incredibly talented and accomplished chef whose career spanned decades in numerous communities including Toronto, Prince Edward County, Hockley Valley and Bayfield. His immense talent and passion earned him numerous accolades and inspired countless others. He was a true pioneer, mentor and culinary icon who will be remembered for his creativity, perfection, intensity, and laughter. In particular, he was an early adaptor and brilliant executor of tasting menus as well as a leader in local food and field to fork cuisine. Michael’s legacy lives on in Mia and the many lives he touched during his illustrious life and career. A private internment will be held for immediate family in London Ontario following Michael’s cremation.
