Obituary
With heavy hearts the family of Michael William Maloughney (P. Eng.) announce his passing on Friday December 11, 2020 at Rocmaura Nursing Home. Born August 22nd of 1933 he was the son of the late Joseph and Agusta (Ryan) Maloughney. After graduating from St FX in 1955, Mike attended NS Technical University graduating in 1957 followed by the Association of Professional Engineering graduating in 1961 from NB Civil Engineering. He was the owner of Canada Real Estate Co. and was extremely proud of his accomplishments. Michael was a former member of the St FX Board of Governors and always took part in the yearly alumni visits. He was former President of Metal Workers Association and received the President Club plaque in 2013.
He is survived by his loving wife Brenda (Gallant) Jamieson; daughters Lea “Bonnie” (Tony) Roque, Mary Sue Maloughney, Alison Maloughney (Bruno Maiben), and their mother Ann Maloughney; stepdaughter Melissa Jamieson (Joshua Hogan); grandchildren Liam Mullen, Andrew Mullen, Mia Maloughney, Zoe Maloughney, Dominic Hogan, Erica Hogan and Elizabeth and Matthew Roque.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter Patty Ann Maloughney.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road. A Celebration of His Life will be held for invited guests only. For those unable to attend, a livestreaming of the service will be available to view. Please refer back to the obituary for a link that will be available on Thursday December 17, 2020 at 11am. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery
Donations in his memory may be made to the Romero House, St. Francis Xavier University Coady Institute, or the Rocmaura Foundation. The family would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr. Tom Whalen, Dr. Kristofferson, staff of the Regional Hospital, staff of Ridgewood and the wonderful staff of Rocmaura Nursing Home, most especially Brenda Wilson and the Garden Court Staff.
