Mervin Matthew Hauck
1955-2020
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing
of Mervin Hauck at his home in Cape George Point, Nova Scotia, from
heart failure on May 11, 2020 at the age of 64.
He is survived by his soul mate and life partner of 35 years,
Arno.
He leaves to cherish his memory his brothers and sisters:
Sandra (Jim) Schafer, Nancy (Lyndon) Reinhardt, Randy (Sharla) Hauck,
Wally Hauck, Vance (Roxanne) Hauck along with his many adoring nieces
and nephews.
Mervin is predeceased by his parents Matthew (2017) and
Rosemarie (2015) Hauck.
Mervin was able to light up a room with his persona, energy
and charm. His love for his family went beyond measure. He was blessed
with a green thumb and loved to nurture his beautiful flower gardens
and entertain and made wonderful meals for family and friends to
enjoy. Mervin loved to dance, sing and have a good time. The ocean and
countryside were his back yard and he walked many a mile with his
beloved dogs Jax and Juno. He was an educator for most of his life
with many degrees and with that came many intriguing conversations in
which he provided his knowledge and wisdom.
Mervin will be lovingly remembered by his family, friends and
all the countless lives he touched over the years. It gives us great
comfort knowing he is in the arms of Mom and Dad now.
Que Sera, Sera, we will miss you dearly!
At Mervin’s request there will be no formal funeral
service.

I knew Mervin when he was here in Calgary. He was a bright light who had such a kind heart and was always one to have a sincere conversation and to give you his undivided attention. I felt well-supported by Mervin and will treasure the memory of him always. Shine on, my friend.
I knew Mervin from my days in Leuven, Belgium. We have corresponded over the last forty years with quite a bit of regularity. Something did not feel quite right with me as I prepared to mail his birthday card. I decided to look up his name and saw this very sad news. Arno, my thoughts and prayers are with you. I know that you have lost your soul-mate. I experienced Mervin as creative, kind, and thoughtful. While he is no longer with us, his Spirit will continue to grace our lives. Good-by good friend.
