Merrill Fairfield Longmire 1954 2020

Obituary of Merrill Fairfield Longmire
Merrill Fairfield Longmire, 65, formerly of Smith’s Cove, passed away on July 30, 2020 in his home in Bear River. Born in Annapolis Royal, he was the son of the late Gerald and Marion (Gilliatt) Longmire.
Merrill spent many years of his life on the ocean as a scallop fisherman and later in years, he finished his career in the lobster industry. He had many hobbies, enjoyed reading and sharing stories. Merrill was such a kind and caring person with a contagious smile; he would help anyone in any way he could. With such a vast amount of knowledge, he could strike up a conversation with just about anybody, but still enjoyed taking time now and then to be alone with his thoughts.
His daughters and granddaughter were his pride and joy.
Merrill will be lovingly remembered by his daughters Deidre (Adam) MacNichol and Fiona Longmire (Jared); granddaughter Ainsley Lefebre; brothers Brock (Cindy) of Digby and Bradley of Halifax; sisters Heather of Halifax and Susan (Eugene) Oliver of Annapolis Royal; and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Merrill’s Life will be held on Friday, August 14, 2020 at 3:00 pm in Smith’s Cove. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Digby County Funeral Chapel, 367 Highway #303, Digby, B0V 1A0 (902-245-2444).
