Obituary of Melvin Lorne Mason
It is with great sadness that we, the family announce the passing of Melvin Mason on December 7, 2020 in Dartmouth General Hospital. Melvin was born in Sheet Harbour April 3, 1942, a son of the late Murray and Cora (Fox) Mason. Melvin and Glenda married 35 years ago, and resided in Tangier until his death. He was a fisherman until he retired in 2007. He always enjoyed growing and bringing to life his Christmas trees, in his little Christmas Tree Lot. Melvin was an avid tracker, hunter and trapper. Two of Melvin’s greatest accomplishments and joys in his life were his children, Felicia Ann Mason and Robert M. Mason. He was a proud stepfather to Pamela Nicole Monk and enjoyed being Grandpa to Pam’s three children. Survived by his wife of 35 years, Glenda (Monk); daughter, Felicia Mason; stepdaughter, Pamela Monk (Terry Jamieson); grandchildren, Brittany, Jamie-Lynn, Shane; sisters, Alma Jennex, Bernadette, Joan, Beverly. Predeceased by son, Robert; brothers, Ronny, Ross; sisters, Edna Oycal and Barbara Brisbain. Visitation will be held Friday, December 11th from 1-2 p.m. in D.S. Crowell & Son Funeral Home, 22558 Hwy. 7, Sheet Harbour; masks required. Graveside committal to follow in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Tangier, Rev. Lorraine Otto officiating. Anyone who would like is invited to Glenda’s following the burial. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society.
