Obituary
Melissa (Missy) Munro (Kolaz) passed away on August 08, 2020 at 49 years of age having received the Last Rites of the Catholic Church. She is survived by her loving spouse, Adrian Munro, two precious sons Dylan and Tyler, her parents Rick and Nancy Kolaz (McDonough), Sister Angela and her husband Dave Ponder, Sister-in-law Selene Munro, husband Cameron, Niece Rachel and Nephew Pearson, Brother-in-law Dustin Munro, Niece Paige and Brother-in-law Aaron Munro. Missy was born and grew up in St. Louis County, Missouri. She competed for nine years on both the swimming and diving teams. She graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration. She was an active member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority where she began charity work for the Susan B Koman breast cancer awareness foundation. After graduation she began a career in marketing. She met husband Adrian in 1999 and they married in 2001. In 2002 they were blessed by the arrival of their first son Dylan. They moved to Okotoks, Alberta in 2004 and Tyler arrived in 2008. Missy was active in supporting the children in hockey, baseball and school activities. She never hesitated to manage a team, coordinate an event or a tournament. She was an Okotoks minor hockey association director. She had a generous and kind heart and was there for anyone who needed a hand and was a vocal and passionate supporter of local businesses. Throughout her life she loved and cared for many animals. If there was a stray animal they found a home with Missy. She developed a passion for helping animals and became and advocate and volunteer for Heaven Can Wait. She will be missed by many. Missy’s service will be held on Friday, August 14th but Unfortunately due to COVID-19 restrictions will be by invite only. However, Friends can pay their respects in a visitation to held at the farm from 2 to 4pm. Again, times and group sizes will be managed due to COVID-19 restrictions. Please note that COVID-19 safety protocols will be in place and details will be emailed once your interest in attending has been received. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Missy’s name to Heaven Can Wait.

  1. I am a friend of both her dad, Rick Kolaz, a fraternity brother and Julie Lien, the daughter of a friend of mine from Knight of Columbus. I am shocked to hear of Missy passing and my heart & sympathy go out to all in Canada & USA. May her soul Rest In Peace. I was just recently made aware of this tragic event. Love to all.❤️
