Graham; The death of Max Graham Brown of
Truro, NS, occurred on Sunday, June 14, 2020. Born at home in
Westchester Station on Thursday, March 21, 1929, he was the third son
of the late Roy and Rachael (Ferguson) Brown. He is survived by his
wife of 62 years, Vera (Halliday); daughter, Heidi Brown, Dartmouth;
son, Scott (Nancy) Brown, Truro Heights; step-granddaughter, Kristen
MacPhee; brother, David (Judy); sisters, Minnie, Willa, Mary (Ron);
many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Percy, Fred;
sisters, Helena, June. Max was a proud member of the Royal Canadian
Air Force. His tours of duty took him to MacDonald, Manitoba; TorBay,
Newfoundland; Greenwood, Nova Scotia; Marville, France; Bagotville,
Quebec; Comox, British Columbia; Cold Lake, Alberta. He also served
time with the NATO forces in Sardinia. Retiring after 25 years of
service, Max started a new career as a Chef de Cuisine. He attended
Malaspina College in Nanaimo, British Columbia, and graduated in 1977
with awards in dexterity and proficiency. Max enjoyed cooking with a
passion. He was very proud of his culinary achievements and received
many accolades from his time working in the food industry. He was a
cook at the Nova Scotia Youth Training Centre for 13 years. Max was an
avid gardener and was a member of the Bible Hill Garden Club. For many
years, he provided baskets of glads for the Anniversary Service at the
Westchester United Baptist Church. Max enjoyed picking blueberries for
his friends. Many of his friends would attest to his kindness and
generosity. Max enjoyed doing the Friday Lexicon in the Chronicle
Herald and Word Search in the Truro Daily News. He served on the Eagle
Hill Cemetery Board of Directors, helped with Meals on Wheels. He was
a member of St. James Presbyterian Church and the Colchester Stroke
Club. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Mattatall ~
Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street Truro from where a private
funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2020.

Hill Cemetery, Westchester Station. Family flowers only. Donations in
Max’s memory may be made to the Eagle Hill Cemetery, the
Colchester Stroke Club, or to a charity of your choice. If you wish to
