Mavis Yingst
April 2, 1952 – July 4, 2020
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Mavis Yingst, of Regina, Saskatchewan. Mavis passed away peacefully at the age of 68 years with her husband Gerald by her side. Predeceased by her mother and father, Freda and Steve Semchyshyn; and brothers-in-law Maurice and Larry; Mavis is survived by her loving husband, Gerald; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Sharon (Norman), Kay, Rosemarie, Bev (Allen) and Janice (Scott); along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Born in Swan River, Manitoba, Mavis attended Minitonas Elementary School and graduated in June 1971 from Swan River Collegiate. She began her career as a receptionist at a personal care home and physician’s office in Swan River and retired in Regina in 2012 after twenty-nine years as a secretary with Health Canada.
Mavis will be remembered for her love of family and friends, her faith, her enjoyment of many sports, particularly hockey and football, and her passion for music. She loved to sing, and play the piano, organ, and accordion. She could really make a piano rock. Mavis also had fond memories of travel to Phoenix, Arizona.
The family would like to thank the care team at Extendicare Parkside, Regina, for the care provided to Mavis over the past year.
Visitation and viewing for family and friends will be held from 10:30a.m. – 12:30p.m. on Friday, July 17, 2020 at the Chapel of Swan Valley Funeral Home, 363 Kelsey Trail, Swan River, Manitoba. A graveside service will follow at 1:00p.m. at the Minitonas Cemetery, Minitonas, Manitoba.
