Maurice G.’s Obituary
Maurice Gary Sidoroff, 81, of Peace River, Alberta passed away on February 21, 2020 with his beloved and very devoted brother, Gerald Sidoroff at his side.
Maurice was born August 1, 1938 in McLennan, Alberta, the son of the late John and Efrosinsia (Chuchalin) Sidoroff. The family moved from Guy, Alberta in 1947 to Peace River, Alberta where he lived in the family home for over 70 years. The home was the iconic pink, white blue stripped home just south of the Peace River bridge, alongside the old highway on the bank of the mighty Peace.
Maurice had superior gift for numbers, spelling and painting. In his early years he amassed a large collection of comic books. Maurice worked for many years at the Pepsi plant and shell gas station. He volunteered for years scorekeeping for hockey at the Peace River arena.
Maurice is survived by his brother, Gerald, and several first cousins. Of the Uncle Nikolai (Helen Savard) Sidoroff’s family: first cousins, Gwen, Nellie, Gloria, Nonna, Con, Alex, Anthony, Timothy, and Bernadette; Of the Aunt Anna (William) Todor’s family: first cousins Elizabeth, Kathleen, John, William and Dennis; Of the Uncle Abraham (Alaftina Nasedkin) Sidoroff’s family: first cousins Lenoard, Victor, Walter, and Gaile.
A graveside service will be held in Hines Creek, Alberta at the Greek Orthodox cemetery. Date to be determined.
