It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Matthew Gary Edward Mills at his home in Brantford on Monday, July 27, 2020. Matthew will be remembered as a kind and gentle soul who loved animals, chess and music of all kinds. In spite of suffering a chronic illness for over 20 years, Matthew worked hard through his pain to obtain 2 graduate certificates from Mohawk College and was 2 credits away from earning his honours degree in Digital Media and Journalism from Laurier Brantford. Matthew’s dream was to be a writer and journalist and hoped to one day to publish a book. Matthew was a member of Fairview United Church. Matthew adored his brother Eric Mills and he loved attending numerous solo acoustic concerts performed by Eric as well as concerts performed by Eric’s band “Heckle the Band” at various venues across the province. Matthew leaves behind his father and mother, Gary and Ruth Mills, his brother Eric Mills (Kate Ferguson), his auntie Lynda Clark-McTaggart and his cousin Margaret McTaggart from Kirkland Lake and Christopher McTaggart (Dayna) from The Pas, Manitoba. Internment and graveside service will take place in Beeton, Ontario at a later date so that Matthew can be laid to rest beside his grandparents Bill and Ruth Clark. Memorial donations in Matthew’s memory to Fairview United Church in Brantford would be appreciated.
