Matthew’s Obituary
Ellis, Matthew Stanley – 36, Oxford – It is with saddened hearts the family of Matthew Stanley Ellis announces he passed away on Sunday, August 9th, 2020. Born in Pugwash, he was a son of Stanley Ellis and Darlene (Margeson) Ellis. As a youth, Matthew excelled in sports, playing basketball, hockey and baseball. He began working at the Oxford Save Easy as a student and met many people there. He later worked with his dad Stan in contracting and eventually went to work out west in the oil fields in Slave Lake. Matthew returned home and worked in the silviculture industry locally. He later did contract flooring, a job he took great pride in. Matt enjoyed being outdoors and working with his hands. Matthew is survived by his parents, Stanley Ellis and Darlene Ellis (George McAloney); brothers, Tim (Jenna); Dylan (Angela); nephew, Liam; maternal grandmother, Diane Schurman (Grant Jackson); uncles, Michael (Terry) Mills; David (Kim) Ellis; Allison (Helen) Ellis; Amos (Tresure); Carl (Donna); aunts, Cheryl (Kevin) Little and Lynda (Barry) Smith; special aunts, Anne Margeson and Nancy Ellis; and many cousins He was predeceased by grandparents, Stanley and Irene (Mills) Ellis and Bruce Margeson; uncle, Richard Ellis. Cremation has taken place in the care of MacDiarmid’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, 5075 Main Street, Oxford (902-447-2930). Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. Thursday, August 13 in MacDiarmid’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, followed immediately by a graveside service at 6 p.m. Thursday, August 13 in Pine Grove Cemetery.
