Obituary of Mary Vant Erve
Maria (Mary) Vant Erve, a long-time resident of Beaverlodge, AB, passed away on Saturday, September 26, 2020, in Hythe, AB, at the age of 94 years.
She will be greatly missed by those who loved her dearly including her 7 children Henry (Barb), Ginny (Robert), Bert (Debbie), Ria, Margaret and Liz (Dean); her 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Albert, and great-granddaughter, Tasha.
Mary was born in Holland and immigrated to Canada with her husband when she was 26. It was on a dairy farm outside of Beaverlodge where they settled and raised their family.
Mary loved many things in life including her family, the Netherlands, Hockey Night in Canada, knitting, chocolate, reading, music, flowers, the colour blue, and walking around the Beaverlodge Research Station. She especially loved a good cup of coffee with a shot of Baileys.
Mary was a proud member of the Catholic Women’s League for 68 years and a dedicated parishioner at St. Mary’s Church. Mary will be remembered for her wit, sense of humour, strength, deep faith, and warm, generous heart.
Due to current regulations, a Funeral Mass for Mary will be live streamed on our Facebook page, on Saturday, October 3, 2020. Father Michael Dias will officiate. Mary will be laid next to her loving husband following the service.
For friends so wishing, donations may be made in memory of Mary to the West County Health Complex, PO Box 30, Beaverlodge, AB T0H0C0.
