It is with sadness that the family of Mary Rosychuk of Edmonton, AB, formerly of Warspite, AB, announce her passing on Sunday, February 2, 2020 at the age of 96 years.
Mary is survived by her loving family of three sons and one daughter, Ronald (Gloria), Larry, Donna (Gordon Hendry) and Robert; granddaughter, Rhonda; grandson, Jason; and sister, Anne Breitkreuz. Predeceased by infant daughter, Margaret Mary (1948); husband, Tom (2014); parents, Domka & Tanasko Klem (1988; 1945 resp); brothers, Metro (1951) and Nick(1993); sister, Verna (Fred) Lazaruk (1973, 1994 resp.); and brothers-in-law, John Teslyk (1965) aand Robert Breitkreuz (2006).
Mary met her future husband in 1943 in Banff, after spring seeding. September 26, they were married in Sts. Peter and Paul Russo Orthodox Church at Chahor (Barich).
They went on their own farm, south of Vilna in 1945. Four children began their lives there. In 1954, they moved north of Warspite. One more son joined the family shortly after. They farmed the land till the sale in 1979 and remained as landlords till 1993.
From the farm, they moved to Edmonton (Delwood), and then to Virginia Park in 2012. Their life together missed the 71 year mark by 12 days.
The family would like to thank doctors and staff at the Royal Alexandra Hospital and Norwood Palliative Care unit.
Funeral Rite Monday, February 10 at 10:00 a.m. at Ukrainian Orthodox Church of St. Elia, 11833 – 66 Street. Father Georg Podtepa officiating with interment in St. Michael’s Cemetery. In lieu of other tributes, donations may be made to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of St. Elia.
