Obituary of Mary Calnan
Calnan, Mary Gertrude –
It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Gertrude Calnan, announce her peaceful passing on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family. Born on November 8, 1928 in Saint John, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Evelyn (Breen) McGuire.
Mary was a loyal member of the CWL for 57 years. She enjoyed knitting for her family and spending summers with her family at Haynes Lake where swimming was one of her favourite pastimes. She would do anything for anyone and will be greatly missed.
Mary will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Joe Calnan (Carole), John Calnan and Jerry Calnan (Carrie); her daughter, Mary Calnan (Rick Boudreau); grandchildren, Jodi (Jerry) and Tyler; great-granddaughter, Hailey; daughter-in-law, Krissy Calnan; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Doyle; as well as several cousins.
In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by her son, Michael and brothers, Rev. Edward McGuire and George McGuire.
The family would like to thank Mary’s caregivers, Lucy, Carrie and Brittany for all the care and compassion shown to their mother. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, with visitation on Sunday, October 4, 2020 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Guests are asked to enter the funeral home using the courtyard entrance, where staff will greet and assist you with COVID-19 protocol. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 5, 2020 at 1:00 PM from Holy Redeemer Parish. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery following the service. For those who wish, remembrances in Mary’s name can be made to the Cerebral Palsy Association or a charity of the donor’s choice. www.BrenansFH.com.
