Mary Yvonne Bellegarde (née Bellerose)
Wâpi-Piyêsiw Iskwêw ‘White Thunderbird Woman’
February 2, 1937 – December 31, 2019
(Mary) Yvonne Bellegarde was called home to be with our Creator on December 31, 2019 at the age of 82.
Born and raised in Lestock, Saskatchewan, Yvonne was a professional cook by trade. She also loved gardening, flowers and crocheting. Yvonne is survived by her brother, Henry Bellerose, sons Brian, Darrel (Jackie), Dean (Sandra), Perry (Valerie) and Cornell (Sandra), special friends Susie Desnomie, Ivona Zedlovich, Sister Bernadette Feist, and Shirley ‘Bear’ Desnomie, as well as goddaughters, Norma Jean Courchene and Beatrice Bellegarde, her eighteen grandchildren, great grandchildren and many relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents George and Virginia Bellerose (née Lafontaine), loving husband Charles ‘Chuck’ Bellegarde, brothers and sisters—George, Mary, Rose, Agnes, Martha, Matilda, Lena, John, Lillian and Eugene as well as her beloved son Dwayne ‘Doss’ Bellegarde (Wanda) and granddaughter Leila Bellegarde.
Yvonne was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and aunty. She loved to cook for her family and shared meals on many many special occasions. Yvonne’s pride rests with her six sons, whom she raised on her own with courage and love following the untimely passing of Charles. She will be greatly missed by all her loved ones.
A wake will be held at the Whitecalf Gymnasium in Lebret, Saskatchewan on Thursday January 2 at 5:00 pm and the funeral service will take place on Friday January 3 at 10:00 am at the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Lebret, Saskatchewan. Interment to follow at the west end cemetery on Okanese First Nation. Lunch to be held at Whitecalf Gymnaisum. As children are gifts from our Creator, the family asks that you keep your children happy and safe at home during this celebration of life.
