Obituary
FENNELLY, Mary Teresa (nee Trainor)(1930-2020) – Mom passed peacefully away at St. Patrick’s Mercy Home surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, September 25, 2020. Born in Port Kirwan, NL, to James and Katie May Trainor (both deceased). She married the late Patrick Fennelly in 1952 and they lived together in Port Kirwan, St. John’s, Trepassey, and back to St. John’s. She was predeceased by her son Wayne, and brothers: Bill, Mike and Dennis. She leaves behind her children: Sheila Nowlon (Dale), Ron Fennelly (Joanne), Pamela Fennelly (Brian), and Yvonne Fennelly (Craig); her sister Winnie Power; grandchildren: Stephen, Dallin, Ronnie, Christopher, Evan and Samantha; step-grandchildren: Jason (Christa) and Shawn; step great-grandchildren: Clara and Beth; sisters-in-law: Vonnie Walsh, Leonnie MacDonald, and Pauline Fennelly; brothers-in-law: Adrian Fennelly and Junior Fennelly; as well as many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends – including Myra Hickey, Emma Linehan and her many close friends at St. Pat’s Home. Mom cared for her family all of her life and that extended to others. She babysat neighborhood children and later worked as a home care worker for several years. She took great joy in caring for and helping others. Mom was a quiet soul who loved her family and the people around her. She leaves behind many wonderful memories and good friends.
Special thanks to the staff on 2 North of St. Pat’s who cared for mom these last years. Visitation to take place at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue on Monday, September 28, 2020 from 12noon-9pm. Funeral Service to be held at Barrett’s Chapel on Tuesday, September 29, at 10:30am with interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery (COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS APPLY).
