Obituary
Mary Elaine Bunnell, nee Stevens, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2020 in Saint John NB.
Mary was born third of six children to Albert and Florence Stevens in St Stephen, NB in 1942. Growing up, she sang in the children’s choir of the Presbyterian church and used her vocal cords in High School on the cheerleading squad. She attended college in Moncton where she trained for her calling as a Registered Nursing Assistant, working in Saint John over many years at the old General Hospital, the Regional Hospital and St. Joe’s. She counted herself a city girl, and loved to shop, and discover the newest fashions. Always caring and with a ready smile, she renewed her Christian faith in later adulthood. She spent the final segment of her life in Cedar House at the Loch Lomond Villa.
She is survived by her children Joan Benson (Jeff), Anna Robbins (Peter), and Brian Bunnell (Lori); grandchildren Timothy Benson, Jeremy Benson (Christina), Joshua Benson (Nicole), Benjamin Bunnell, and David Robbins; great-grandson Ari Benson. Also survived by sisters Janice Rains, Anita Hunter, June Kowalczyk and Phyllis Nixon. Predeceased by her former husband John Vance Bunnell, twin children Stephen and Stephanie, in infancy, brother Kenneth Stevens, and great-granddaughter Adelaide Benson.
The family is deeply grateful to all of the staff at Cedar House for their excellent care for Mary over the last few years, and for their kindness to all of us.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road. A Celebration of her Life will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Friday February 7, 2020 at 11 a.m. The family will receive visitors from 10 until service time.
