Obituary
Mary Dyck, 97, of Minnedosa, MB peacefully entered eternal rest on July 23, 2020.
Mary was born on September 6, 1922 on a farm northeast of Morden, MB where she attended Berwaldie school. Even as a youngster, Mary was very hardworking and eventually decided she needed to stay home from school to help her mother and help on the family farm. She loved to reminisce about harvest time from her childhood. Like all young people, Mary decided to spread her wings and took a job in Winnipeg as a housekeeper and nanny. While in Winnipeg, she met a young man by the name of Isaac. After a brief courtship, the couple were married on April 4, 1954 and Mary moved to Isaac’s farm in the Kirkham Bridge area. For the next forty eight years, they farmed the land and raised chickens. There were times they had up to 1000 laying hens, so Mary became an expert in washing and testing eggs. While living in the Kirkham Bridge area, their family grew with the additions of Larry and Lloyd. In 1968 the family moved to Rapid City and continued to farm and raise chickens. Mary had many loyal egg customers in Rapid City, Minnedosa, and Brandon. She developed many lifelong friendships and egg delivery day had also turned into a social outing for her. Religion was also a very big part of Mary’s life. Although she didn’t attend church in her later years, she always looked forward to calls and visits from her church friends and was never too busy for a visit.
In 2002 Mary and Isaac retired from farming and moved to the Cadurcis area where Mary continued to keep busy with her gardening and sewing. In October of 2010, the couple decided to move to the Minnedosa Manor. After Isaac’s passing in 2018, Mary stayed in the Manor until January 2020, when she made her final move to the Minnedosa Personal Care Home. It was there that she peacefully passed away with family by her side.
Mary will be lovingly remembered by her two sons; Larry (Kerrie) and Lloyd (Barbara); granddaughter Shawna (Jeff); step grandsons Lucas and Greg, and three great grandchildren and five step great grandchildren. She is predeceased by husband, Isaac, sister Hilda and brothers Abe and Henry.
