Obituary
Martin Milan passed away in Southwood Hospice on August 2, 2020 after a hard-fought battle with cancer at the age of 72. He leaves behind his daughter, Leah (Michael) Thompson of Okotoks; son Luke (Kimberly) Milan of Okotoks; their mother Donna Milan of Vulcan; his grandchildren Clay, Brody and Austin Thompson; and Ayla and Nate Milan, all of Okotoks. He is also survived by his siblings June Early of Calgary; Arthur (Patricia) Milan of Edmonton; Sally Milan (Sandy Switzer) of Calgary; Mary (Les) Weedman of Henderson, Nevada; Norman (Sherron) Milan of Calgary; and Ellen Milan (Ben Wilfred) of High River. In addition, he leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews from across Canada and throughout the United States, as well as his good friend Linda Fehr of Okotoks. Martin was predeceased by his parents Daniel and Marie Milan of Calgary; and his twin brothers James and Joseph. Martin spent many years teaching elementary school in Vulcan and Carmangay, Alberta. He enjoyed curling, golfing, playing guitar, singing and traveling with his family. Martin took great pride in his children and grandchildren. He shared that pride with anyone who would listen. At Martin’s request, there will be a private celebration of life for family at a later date. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Tom Baker Cancer Foundation or Southwood Hospice in Martin’s name.
